When I started 7th grade, and went from one class to another, seven times all in the same day, I thought it was impossible to actually learn anything at all! How could it work that 50 minutes per subject would be enough for me to actually absorb a thing? Especially when I was largely concerned about the other students (BOYS) in the classroom more than the actual content! Well, I don’t know how soon I realized it was quite a brilliant system, but I know it now!
Is it possible to do laundry all day Monday, make all the meals on Tuesday, sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, clean bathrooms, and dust, all day Wednesday, hang out with my friends all day Thursday, work out all day Friday…. Okay, you get the gist. It IS possible, but absolutely unrealistic, and quite impractical too. There must be a balance!
My quest this year is to find the perfect balance in my life of what I need and what I can give in all categories of my life: spiritual, emotional, physical, mental, social, & financial. The greatest reason to seek out the beauty of balance is the peace it brings, as well as the access to power. Like a Mercedes Benz that has crooked wheels, it can be comfortable, stylish, and promising, but it can’t get anywhere fast! I want to go places I’ve never been before, do things I’ve never tried before, and impact more people than I ever have before! All while being an awesome mom, wife, and homemaker.
By aspiring for balance in my life, it will open up time and space for me to write a book, get all my family history in order (scrapbooking), compose my first song, and afford a home that I have never before dreamed would be possible. Most of all, it will allow me time to recognize and act on inspiration, strengthen my relationships to God, family, and friends! It’s like when you see an awesome commercial for your favorite restaurant and it makes your mouth water… I’m hungry for balance, are you?! Let’s gain it together and report on the before and after affects of finding it.
So, I turn the table, if you had greater balance in your life, what would be available to you that is currently unattainable?
“Just as your car runs more smoothly and requires less energy to go
faster and farther when the wheels are in perfect alignment,
you perform better when your thoughts, feelings, emotions, goals,
and values are in balance.” -Brian Tracy
